Who are ESCAPE
Exmouth, a coastal town in Devon, has faced concerns over sewage pollution, particularly due to issues related to combined storm overflows (CSO) and inadequate drainage systems. Heavy rainfall often exacerbates the situation, leading to untreated sewage being discharged into local waters, which can harm marine life and water quality. Efforts by local authorities and environmental agencies to address these challenges include upgrading infrastructure and monitoring pollution levels, alongside public awareness campaigns to highlight the importance of maintaining clean waterways. ESCAPE is a voluntary community group of residents and water users who want to protect our precious environment and tourist economy.
